training The Lotus Buds International parent training classes emphasize the special needs children that begin life being abandoned or in an orphanage have and how parents of orphans can work towards secure attachments with their child. The adoptive families all noted how helpful the classes had been and that they were making changes in their parenting techniques because of what they had learned in the classes. The Adoptive Parenting class is a 12 hour course. The book Adoptive Parenting from the Ground Up by Katie Prigel Sharp (www.heartofthematterseminars.com) is used as a guide for the classes and supplemented with materials developed through research of the top experts in the field of parenting adopted children. We are also organizing regular adoptive family support groups where we will expand on an adoption issue that needs more in-depth discussion as well as letting the families get together for on-going support. |
